Welcome to the Waxahachie Symphony Association's 33rd Annual Concert Series for 2009-2010.  This Season we are proud to have the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra with two performances (September 2009 and March 2010). Plus, the wonderful Arlington Jones Jazz Trio - November 2009. And in February 2010, Gabriela Martinez, a Van Cliburn Finalist, will perform at the First United Methodist Church, Waxahachie, TX.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, 22-year-old pianist Gabriela Martinez has already amassed an impressive list of recital and concerto performance credits. Since making her orchestral debut at age 7, Ms. Martinez has appeared as soloist with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Symphonisches Staatsorchester Halle, Tivoli Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, the Longwood, Super World, and Juilliard Orchestras, as well as all the major Venezuelan Orchestras. She has performed under the batons of Dirk Brosse, Lawrence Foster, Klauspeter Seibel, Giordano Bellincampi, Otto Werner-Mueller, Naozumi Yamamoto, Guillermo Figueroa, David Machado, Anne Manson, James Conlon, Charles Dutoit, Egmon Colomer, Mark Laycock, Pedro and Cristobal Halffter among others.

Belles and Beaus

Belles and Beaus Program

The Symphony Bells and Beaus Program, open to local high school seniors, is designed to develop an appreciation for classical (as well as other types of ) music and an awareness of the importance of community service. Participants in this program attend a series of seminars aimed at increasing knowledge of the arts and  improving social skills and self confidence.
